Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have a whole new problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, who are both objectively Satan, have long had a love-hate-cringe-vomit relationship. They were vicious to each other during the Republican primary. Trump attacked Cruz’s wife. Cruz all but threatened to kill Trump in response. Then, because Cruz is a coward afraid of losing his Senate seat, he endorsed Trump at the last minute. Now that Cruz is indeed very much in danger of losing his seat to Beto O’Rourke, Trump is returning the favor – but a familiar nemesis has different plans.

Beto O’Rourke and Ted Cruz are now running neck and neck in the 2018 race for U.S. Senate in Texas. O’Rourke is running a spirited and inspiring campaign, and Cruz has mostly responded by staying up all night and hurling insults at respected actors like Kevin Bacon and Ron Perlman. It’s as if Cruz doesn’t know what to do with himself now that his back is against the wall.

Over the weekend, Donald Trump posted this tweet: “I will be doing a major rally for Senator Ted Cruz in October. I’m picking the biggest stadium in Texas we can find. As you know, Ted has my complete and total Endorsement. His opponent is a disaster for Texas – weak on Second Amendment, Crime, Borders, Military, and Vets!” Now attorney and political activist Michael Avenatti, who just finished playing a key role in bringing Michael Cohen to justice, has plans to derail the big Trump-Cruz rally.

Avenatti tweeted this in response: “I am excited to announce that I will be leading a large resistance rally in Texas at the exact same time of Trump’s (details tba). All groups are welcome to join. We must fight fire with fire and we must send a message that we will fight to make America America again.” We’ll see who ends up drawing the bigger crowd. Then again, if Trump comes out on the losing end of it, he’ll just lie about it anyway. In any case, Beto O’Rourke will be the real winner of the night.
