Ted Cruz posts embarrassing tweet, deletes it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Senator Ted Cruz is the kind of guy who spends all day trying to dunk on his political adversaries, only to not realize until it’s too late that he’s really been dunking on himself. Cruz is an odd combination of antithetical, oblivious, and not nearly as smart as he thinks he is, and he just reminded us all of that yet again.

In response to a question on social media, the official “WA Government” account confirmed that masks are not required at New Year’s Eve parties held at private residences, but that “dancing is strictly prohibited.”

This prompted Ted Cruz to go on a Twitter rampage about how blue state Democrats are “power-drunk authoritarian kill-joys,” specifically lashing out at Washington State for banning dancing. But there were a couple problems here.

First, the “dancing is strictly prohibited” remark was clearly a sarcastic joke, which any normal human would have understood. Second, if Cruz had bothered to click on the account in question, he would have seen that the “WA Government” account is actually the Government of Western Australia.

In other words, Ted Cruz got it wrong on every count, and he ended up deleting his own tweet. Fortunately, quick-witted observers managed to screen capture his tweet. Everyone was so quick to pile on, “Western Australia” ended up trending on Twitter.
