Justice Katanji Brown Jackson! Don’t those words have a wonderful sound to them? And it’s almost time now. Jackson’s confirmation hearings start next Monday. She will be confirmed. Polling shows Jackson’s approval ratings are high. She has been meeting with Senators, both Democratic and Republican. Most only have great things to say about her.

But of course, there are a few morons waiting in the wings. These few appear desperate to FIND something — anything — not to like about her. And there is one Senator who has come up with a unique and inventive idea about why Jackson might not be his favorite person to be the next Supreme Court Justice.

Before I tell you what that something is, I will say that I thought it was from “The onion when I first heard this story.” Really. I didn’t believe it. OK — let’s get to this Senator. Which one is it? Here is a hint. It is a male. He appears to like mariachi music. He has a history of loving on Donald Trump, even when Trump insults his family. And he likes to bail on the people in his state by going to Cancun.

If you have guessed Ted Cruz — how right you are. At least that is what he SAYS. That’s where things take a turn for insanity. Cruz claims on “Verdict” that he offered the Judge some Cuban coffee. How polite! The Judge politely declined. But her refusal to guzzle coffee with him freaked Ted out. Because he says this made him regard her as “highly suspect.”

Might I just say this? It’s likely that had it been me, I’d have turned down anything Cruz offered me as well. At any rate, it appears Cruz is grasping for a reason not to like Jackson. And like most things in his life, Rafael Cruz screwed up on this as well. Because right now, he is the laughing stock of Twitter.

His freak-out over the Brew consumption has been met with hysterical laughter, leaving far too many comments for me even to read myself. I wonder if Rafael left his brain in Cancun. This would certainly explain quite a bit. Perhaps he needs a bit of brain-juice to bring back his clarity and remind him that one’s coffee preferences do not indicate one’s Supreme Court performance.
