Ted Cruz has his “oops” moment

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Republican Senator Ted Cruz thinks he’s the smartest man in the world, and accordingly, he’s quick to remind us that he has all the answers. Unfortunately for Ted, his answers are nearly always wrong. This time around he got lambasted for it from all sides – including from the Mayor of Chicago.

After the latest mass shooting, Ted Cruz tweeted the zero-IQ rhetoric that every deranged gun addict always trots out: “Gun control doesn’t work. Look at Chicago.” Nevermind that gun control has worked in Chicago, and has had a clear positive statistical impact on the crime rate; facts don’t matter to gun addicts. Cruz was also touching on the popular racist trope of trying to downplay white supremacist mass shootings by essentially saying “look at all those black people in Chicago.”

Recently elected Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot promptly ripped Ted Cruz a new one: “60% of illegal firearms recovered in Chicago come from outside IL—mostly from states dominated by coward Republicans like you who refuse to enact commonsense gun legislation. Keep our name out of your mouth.” She then added this: “When Ted Cruz and the GOP dismiss common sense gun policies, they disrespect victims and their families, who deserve to live without pain and fear.”

In response, Ted Cruz went on a very lengthy and very idiotic rant that cited statistics out of context, falsely blamed Democrats for pretty much all violent crime, and reminded us that Ted Cruz is simply not human. He’s a pathological liar, a far right extremist, a mentally unstable gun addict, and a creepy weirdo who seems to take pride in how much he’s hated by sane people. Cruz should resign.
