Ted Cruz digs himself an even deeper hole

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

One reliable aspect about Sen. Ted Cruz is his gift for doubling down on his own hateful utterances to further humiliate himself. Cruz was at it again, revisiting his recent anti-science tweet, thus steering that train even more off the rails. It turns out Cruz was spooked by First Lady Jill Biden’s graceful shutdown of his latest harmful idiocy.

Cruz’s faux-angry attack on Sesame Street came in a tweet early last week, in which he blasted Elmo for the crime of getting vaccinated against COVID-19 in a new Sesame Street video. Cruz complained that Elmo was “aggressively” advocating child vaccinations “with ZERO scientific evidence,” despite recent CDC approval (based on scientific evidence) along with that agency’s collaboration in producing the video in question.

Cruz’s brash ignorance earned him a stinging parody Thursday night on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” in which the lyrics “Feckless buffoon, flees to Cancún. Ted Cruz song…” replaced the familiar opening of “Elmo’s Song.” From liking a porn tweet to elbowing his wife and more, the song reminds listeners of Cruz’s greatest hits before appropriately ending with the letters F and U.

In the meantime, Jill Biden traveled to Richmond, Virginia on Friday to visit a clinic where babies and toddlers were getting their first COVID-19 vaccines. Inspiring the young crowd with hugs and words of comfort, Biden admitted she decided to get vaccinated despite being “a scaredy cat when it comes to shots.”

Within hours, Cruz proceeded almost to parody himself with a new tweet on the subject. Cruz accused “corporate media” for “having fun pretending I’m in a fight with the red furry muppet @elmo.” He then clarified that his beef is with the “woke people with their hands up his a** using a puppet to spread dishonest government propaganda to toddlers.”

Oscar the Grouch once said, “You’d be a grouch, too, if you lived in a trash can!” Ted Cruz, one of the sorriest excuses for a United States Senator in American history proved once again that the trash can is not required.
