Ted Lieu reveals why the House Judiciary Committee is really targeting Hope Hicks

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The House Judiciary Committee sent out a sweeping set of document requests today, aimed at obtaining evidence of Donald Trump’s crimes and abuses. Some of the names on the target list were fully expected, such as Donald Trump Junior and Jared Kushner. Other names had been swept by the wayside but are now being brought back front and center. Among them: Hope Hicks.

This evening, Ted Lieu, a former prosecutor who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, appeared on MSNBC and offered insight into how the document request process came together. He stressed that in addition to exposing Donald Trump’s crimes, the committee is also seeking answers for behavior that was simply abusive or unethical. Lieu cited Hope Hicks as an example.

Congressman Lieu stated on-air that Hope Hicks has repeatedly “lied” to the American people about various Trump-related matters, which isn’t necessarily a crime. He explained that the document request sent to Hicks is aimed at determining why she told these lies. Was she simply making things up of her own accord, or did Trump instruct her to tell these lies?

There is a story behind every one of these document requests, of course. And the word “request” is being used loosely here, as anyone who fails to cooperate is going to be subpoenaed over it. Now we’ll find out which of Donald Trump’s associates are smart enough to cooperate and try to save themselves, and which of them are dumb enough to go down with the Trump ship.
