Donald Trump finally begins talking about Stormy Daniels, immediately gets caught in lie

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In the several weeks since it was exposed that Donald Trump had an affair with Stormy Daniels and then paid her off to keep her quiet during the election, he has been consistently afraid to publicly address the matter. For some unknown reason, Trump has proven himself to be every bit as afraid of Daniels as he is of Vladimir Putin. Trump finally addressed the Daniels matter today, and he immediately got caught in a lie.

Donald Trump spoke of the Stormy Daniels scandal today with a group of reporters aboard Air Force One. He claimed that he “did not know that his personal attorney paid adult-film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 days before the presidential election. Trump also said he doesn’t know where Cohen got the money,” according to Washington Post reporter Jenna Johnson. Trump has long claimed that he didn’t know Michael Cohen had paid off Daniels on his behalf, and we can’t yet prove that he’s lying about this. But it’s the second part of his claim that trips him up.

Trump cannot believably claim that he “doesn’t know where Cohen got the money.” At this point it’s long been widely reported that Michael Cohen took out a home equity line of credit in order to pay Stormy Daniels the money. Trump spends enough hours watching cable news each day that he has to know where the money came from, even if Cohen didn’t tell him. In other words, Trump is lying about his second claim. That means there’s every reason to disbelieve his first claim, about not having known of the payment at the time.

It’s unclear why Donald Trump has chosen now to finally begin talking about the Stormy Daniels controversy, beyond the fact that he seems increasingly unable to keep his mouth shut of late, even when he knows he should. He’s not helping himself by starting off with a lie. Now that he’s broken his silence on the matter, we’ll see if he makes things even worse for himself with a rant about it on Twitter tomorrow morning.
