Talk about desperation…
Newsweek proclaimed in a headline: “Donald Trump’s Legal Arsenal Just Got Stronger.” He needs it. Jones Day worked with Trump in the past, and they have signed on to represent him before the Supreme Court for his ballot disqualifications. This reveals Trump’s priorities because the lawyers representing him in the criminal case filed by Special Counsel Jack Smith are, as Jed Clampett would say, pit-E-ful. Aaron Blake of the Washington Post wrote that Trump’s legal team “appears bent on helping prosecutors make their case.”
If you read their latest filing, you’ll better understand. Suffice it to say that they are still claiming problems with the 2020 election. To make matters worse, they designed their brief around a social media post from Donald Trump. Let’s just say WaPo pegged it right when they called it a “doozy of a filing.” Trump’s lawyers used as a “source” an unnamed person who has spent his time making various voter fraud claims. The “references” in this report include quotes from Fox News’ YouTube channel and elements of “fraud” in Georgia. The Georgia sources include a complaint filed by two citizens and some outfit called “Election Oversight Group, LLC,” which is managed by a man who was illegally filming people in his home bathroom named Kevin Moncla. He paid some hefty damages. He posted his “evidentiary” video on a site called Rumble. Stop the phones! He must be right. He and his partner, David Cross, also filed a complaint in Georgia, claiming “widespread error codes” in the Dominion Voting Systems. As WaPo again correctly described, this so-called “report” is a mess.
If Trump’s lawyers think parroting election lies will bring him immunity, good luck. None of the evidence they presented is credible or grounded in any sense of reality. They concluded their opening paragraph with: “In actuality, there is no evidence Joe Biden won.” These are real lawyers. Having worked with lawyers for 30+ years, I can tell you I’d never work with these. This is a joke, and the D.C. Circuit Court panel are probably sitting there, scratching their heads and asking WTF. Trump’s lawyers’ filing also addressed how after the election, Trump was leading and “the election was over.” Come on, everybody knows this isn’t how voting works. This “phenomenon,” if you will, has repeated itself over many presidential elections. Service people must mail ballots from across the world, and in 2020, many states allowed mail-in ballots. According to Ballotpedia, when those ballots are counted depends on each state, but 35 states and D.C. cannot begin counting until Election Day or after. In all 50 states, those ballots must be processed before the counting can even begin, so the total you see when you go to bed is not going to be the total the next morning or even a few days after. In other words, no one can know who won the election on the night it ends, and there’s nothing “unfair” about that; it’s the way it has always been done. Donald Trump’s attorneys are morons, and I wouldn’t hire them to represent my dogs.
