Donald Trump just confessed to a bizarre, treasonous, deadly scandal involving the Taliban and Camp David
Donald Trump has spent the past week behaving in ways that are mentally incompetent even by his standards. It’s gotten to the point where Americans have been waiting to see what deranged new thing he might come up with next. If you guessed that Trump was planning to secretly host the Taliban at Camp David during the week of 9/11, and the whole thing went so sideways it resulted in the death of a U.S. soldier, you nailed it. No, really.
This evening, Donald Trump posted this surreal three part tweet which left everyone scratching their heads and wondering what was really going on, and if perhaps this was instead coming from a Trump parody account:
Unbeknownst to almost everyone, the major Taliban leaders and, separately, the President of Afghanistan, were going to secretly meet with me at Camp David on Sunday. They were coming to the United States tonight. Unfortunately, in order to build false leverage, they admitted to an attack in Kabul that killed one of our great great soldiers, and 11 other people. I immediately cancelled the meeting and called off peace negotiations. What kind of people would kill so many in order to seemingly strengthen their bargaining position? They didn’t, they only made it worse! If they cannot agree to a ceasefire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill 12 innocent people, then they probably don’t have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway. How many more decades are they willing to fight?
Wait a minute, what? Donald Trump was so desperate for something he could call a victory, he secretly invited the leaders of the Taliban terrorist group, which was indirectly associated with 9/11, to hang out at Camp David just a few days before the anniversary of 9/11. The Taliban leaders took this as a sign of weakness and responded by attacking the U.S. military, leading a U.S. soldier dead. And Trump is now just confessing to the whole thing.
We’re not even sure where to begin with this. Donald Trump is always lying. So if he’s confessing to this version of events, how much uglier is the real story? What he’s admitted in his tweet alone is grounds for impeachment, removal from office, and quite possibly a military trial holding Trump criminally accountable for the death of the soldier. Also, inviting a terrorist group to hang out at a presidential retreat sure sounds like treason to us.
