Tale of two judges

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s fascinating how the world works. Our world is a study in contradictions, contrasts and comparisons. The sun and the moon. The rich and the poor. The good and the evil. A law abiding judge and a crooked one.

Right now, there are two judges handling two of Trump’s most serious indictments. And they could not be more different. One of them is incandescent. She is known to colleagues as a fiery and strong Judge, one who knows the rule of law like the back of her hand, one who suffers no fools.

This Judge, Tanya Chutkan, is Jamaican-born and was appointed by former President Obama. She’s tried hundreds of cases, and her reputation as a quality judge who knows what she’s doing precedes her. And she’s anything but a shrinking violet.

Chutkan uttered those now historical words: ‘Presidents are not kings.’ She doesn’t take any crap, as we have already seen. Then there is the other Judge. Based in Fort Pierce, Florida, she too has made quite a name for herself — as a laughing stock.

Judge Cannon has repeatedly exposed her ignorance of the rule of law as well as her bias for Donald John Trump. She has tried only a few cases. Questions have been raised in at least one of these other cases as well.

She’s been reprimanded by the eleventh circuit for her incompetence. She’s been in the news for her mistakes. She seems to follow no Judicial rules but her own. Perhaps she fears Donald trump. Perhaps she worships him, or perhaps it’s something in between.

Judge Cannon is as weak as Chutkan is tough, as feeble as Chutkan is courageous, and as sycophantic as Chutkin is impartial. It’s a tale of two Judges. One of these Judges seems to be on course to make history.
The other Judge will not even be a footnote.
