Taking down MAGA

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Madness — true madness — can bloom in the unlikeliest of people. There is a famous school of thought out there that one can SEE madness — that one can lay their eyes on someone and immediately know whether that person is sane.

It is sort of like what many think of criminals. Many imagine criminals as mysterious and seedy-looking characters that just LOOK like they’re capable of a great wrong. And many times, these people are imagined to be strangers — but that ignores the facts. And the facts are most violent crimes are committed by non-strangers — someone known to the victim.

So, when looking at madness, it’s important to know what to look for. :Examples of insanity include:

“An idea that makes absolutely no sense.”

“Hallucinating.”

“Violations of social norms.”

“becoming a danger to themselves or others.”

So let’s look at who fits this profile. I can think of a few people. Maga. In years past, if some spouted the words that many in Maga-land have, they would be in an insane asylum. Maga’s words and thought processes hold no rhyme or reason, and most people understand that.

But despite the shrinking numbers of Maga, there are still far too many of them. Locked in a cult, not understanding that they’ve given their lives away to a madman, I think many members of Maga might just be insane.

Since times have changed and these people have crawled out of their box, we must deal with them and learn to live side by side. There really is not any cure because one would have to WANT to be cured to start the process, and most in Maga land have shown they think they’re just fine.

We can’t save Maga from themselves, but we can cancel the violent cult leaders who whisper in the ears of their flock, using them casually for money and power. And the way we do that is to win — would it not be lovely if everyone signed up today to donate their time in a competitive House race?

If we work very hard and don’t waver, we can emerge triumphant and at least put a dent in the Maga cult while ensuring the cult leaders are relegated to complete powerlessness.
