Donald Trump is now trying to claim that he was just being sarcastic when he urged Americans to ingest disinfectant cleaners in an effort at fighting coronavirus. But no one is particularly interested in letting Trump off the hook.

Congressman Ted Lieu said this: “Dear Donald Trump: When you speak on TV, you are talking directly to the people. I rewatched your statements to #InjectDisinfectant and they were not sarcastic. And if you were sarcastic, that’s just as shameful. Do not toy with the American people or treat us with sarcasm.”

Senator Cory Booker piled on: “I can’t believe I have to say this but please, do not ingest or inject disinfectant into your body. Only take medical advice from medical professionals.”

Senator Kamala Harris had this to say: “It goes without saying: please don’t inject disinfectant or drink bleach.”
