Susan Rice fires back at Donald Trump after his declassification stunt backfires on him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump seemed to think that by declassifying a Susan Rice email which showed that President Obama told everyone to handle the Michael Flynn case “by the book,” it was somehow going to prove that Obama was conspiring against Flynn. Now that the whole thing has backfired on Trump, Rice is seizing the moment and firing back at him.

Now that Trump has declassified Susan Rice’s email about the intercepted phone calls between Michael Flynn and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, Rice is demanding that Trump also declassify the transcripts of those phone calls. After all, these are the phone calls where Flynn committed a felony by plotting with the Russian government against the United States. These are also the phone calls that Flynn lied to the FBI about, committing another felony in the process.

So will Donald Trump actually declassify the Flynn-Kislyak phone calls? Of course not. He can’t, because his boss Vladimir Putin would never stand for it. But now that Trump has stupidly put the focus on these phone calls, the Democrats can spend the rest of the election scandalizing Trump over his refusal to declassify them. Susan Rice is playing chess, while Trump is playing with fire.
