Susan Collins just got hit with some bad news
Republican Senator Susan Collins has proceeded to destroy her reputation as a reasonable moderate by voting to put deranged lunatic Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, and by voting to acquit Donald Trump for his crimes. Collins is up for reelection in November, and let’s just say that it’s not going well for her right now.
We’ve seen various polls suggesting that Susan Collins and her Democratic challenger Sara Gideon are neck and neck. Our view is that at this stage of a race, an essentially tied race is bad news for a high profile incumbent. The challenger still has time to reach more voters and establish a platform and thus potentially gain more votes, while the incumbent is a known quantity.
Now, Inside Elections has changed its classification of the race from “Tilt Republican” to “Toss up.” This is just one algorithm for calculating the nature of a race, but it’s bad news for Susan Collins that the race is trending away from her. Maybe she shouldn’t have spent the past couple years siding with monsters and criminals.
