Donald Trump’s latest racist tirade proves he’s even stupider than we thought
Last night several CNN personalities jointly moderated the Democratic 2020 primary debate. To the surprise of no one, Donald Trump decided that he had the biggest problem with the moderator who’s black, Don Lemon. To that end, Trump went off the deep end today about Lemon in racist fashion, and ended up playing himself.
For reference, here’s what Donald Trump tweeted: “CNN’s Don Lemon, the dumbest man on television, insinuated last night while asking a debate “question” that I was a racist, when in fact I am “the least racist person in the world.” Perhaps someone should explain to Don that he is supposed to be neutral, unbiased & fair or is he too dumb (stupid} to understand that. No wonder CNN’s ratings (MSNBC’s also) have gone down the tubes – and will stay there until they bring credibility back to the newsroom. Don’t hold your breath!”
Trump’s premise here is that Don Lemon had no business calling him a racist. But in his attack on Lemon today, Trump invoked the same racist trope that he uses nearly every time he attacks a black public figure: that they’re not intelligent. In other words, Trump just proved his racism while admonishing Lemon for calling him a racist. Oops.
Further, Donald Trump doesn’t appear to know that “dumb” and “stupid” don’t quite mean the same thing. It also looks like he may not know when to use parentheses vs braces when it comes to punctuation. In other words, Trump simply doesn’t appear to be all that smart.
