This morning Kamala Harris formally endorsed Joe Biden. It wasn’t just a perfunctory endorsement either; she announced that she’ll be campaigning with Biden in Detroit on Monday night. She’s clearly all-in with Biden’s candidacy in a big way, and it’s led to wide speculation that she could end up being a major player in his administration.

Fifteen hours later, you’d think Donald Trump would have gotten around to attacking Kamala Harris by now. Granted, he’s had a few things to deal with at the moment, as the stock market is collapsing overnight, and Ted Cruz of all people now thinks he may have the coronavirus. But since when have real-world problems ever stopped Trump from obsessively attacking his perceived enemies?

Here’s the thing: I think Trump is afraid of Kamala Harris, for a few reasons. He’s an insecure sexist and a racist, and she’s a strong woman of color who clearly doesn’t think much of him, so he’s likely intimidated. She’s also taken a blowtorch to some of Trump’s top henchmen, such as Bill Barr and Brett Kavanaugh, on live national television.

Kamala Harris wasn’t able to finish off the likes of Barr and Kavanaugh from her Senate seat, because her party is in the minority. But if Biden wins and makes Kamala Harris the Attorney General, you’d better believe she’ll bring federal criminal cases against Donald Trump and all his criminal co-conspirators.

Donald Trump will end up attacking Kamala Harris at some point. His clinical compulsion to lash out at his adversaries always does end up overriding anything else he’s feeling. But the reality is that, fifteen hours later, Trump is still in stunned silence about the fact that Kamala just came out swinging in favor of Joe Biden. Trump is afraid of her.
