The straw that breaks the back of Donald Trump and the GOP
There is a quote from Albert Einstein that encompasses the Republican Party today. He said, “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.” After today’s shameful absence of Republican votes to condemn Trump’s racist tweets, we now know the Republican Party will never do anything about him.
The Katie Johnson lawsuit alleging Trump raped her as a thirteen-year-old in Epstein’s mansion should have been enough for the GOP to disavow him. Forget every other Trump sin and embarrassment, the details in that filing alone were horrifying and utterly believable. Whether Trump actually did those things to that child has yet to be tested by a court of law, but the very shadow of it should have been enough to make Republicans back away like a wet cat.
Instead, they embraced him, to the point that the Republican Party is now the Party of Trump. There is no bottom to their gleeful defense of their man; no spin they can’t put on his disgusting behavior; no doubt they won’t sow, even in the face of child-rape. In short, hardened Trumpsters will never disavow their Dear Leader, even if Epstein’s safe is full of videos of Trump raping children.
Trump’s soul is nothing but fistfuls of rot, but the entire GOP has proven time and time again they have no moral fiber either. Their embrace of racism is now the fabric of their existence, not only because that is who they truly are, but it also conveniently distracts from the Epstein story and Mueller’s soon-to-arrive testimony.
The white supremacists cheer Trump on as he befriends pedophiles and dictators. But in spite of it all, the end of the Republican Party is nigh upon us. Epstein will be the straw that breaks the Republican back. Not every conservative is a diehard Trumpster. Many in the GOP will be swayed to abandon ship if just to have to refrain from defending child molestation. Violence convinced men to get out of the Klan; utter annihilation woke Germany up to the dangers of Nazism. A lot of Republicans will finally see the monstrous state their party is in and get out. Racism is disgusting, but don’t let it steer you away from the real point: child rape is an abomination and the GOP can’t survive it.
