Steve Bannon swings and misses
Some traitors will try anything to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. And that is precisely what Steve Bannon is doing. Bannon is desperately trying to wiggle out of his looming court trial. But traitors will be traitors, and so far, all his efforts appear to be for naught.
Bannon’s attorneys filed a motion that was bizarre, to say the least. In said motion, Bannon’s team argues earnestly that the Jury shouldn’t be able to convict their client if it finds “someone” advised Bannon not to show up to talk to the January 6 committee.
Good try, Bannon — it won’t work. But this isn’t the first time Bannon has attempted to use bizarre excuses to get out of taking responsibility. He’s also tried to get the court date moved. This has not worked either.
Steve Bannon is coming up with ploy after ploy to avoid answering for his actions. Bannon has also asked that he be allowed to depose certain witnesses himself. Recently he said the following: “I look forward to having Nancy Pelosi and little Jamie Raskin and shifty Schiff on here at trial answering questions.” Right.
It is rather fun, I must admit, to see Bannon squirming like this. He is a rat caught in a trap, and there isn’t going to be a way out for him — and he knows that. That mask of defiance has always been Steve Bannon’s go-to image. But it is just that — an image — a carefully curated image that does not hold up to scrutiny.
The bottom line is Bannon is likely scared out of his mind. It’s one thing to boast about how one is willing to do anything — even go to prison. It is quite another thing to actually go there. Bannon is sitting on a powder keg. His pathetic attempts to weasel out of culpability are not going anywhere, but hopefully, he is — directly to prison.
