Steve Bannon just lost big time in criminal court

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The way Steve Bannon has been running his mouth lately, you’d think he was winning if you weren’t paying attention. But in reality, when a villain begins making the kinds of frantic and unenforceable threats that Bannon has been making, it’s always a giveaway that the villain is vulnerable and panicking.

Sure enough, Bannon’s recent loudmouth antics didn’t help him in court at all today. First, as expected, the courts rejected his motion to dismiss the contempt charges against him. In addition, the courts rejected his request to delay the start of his trial.

This means that Steve Bannon’s criminal trial will begin in a few weeks. The courts have already thrown out his planned defense strategy, meaning he has no realistic shot at beating the rap.

Bannon also has to worry about whether the DOJ will hit him with more serious criminal charges before the start of his trial. He’s been using the court proceedings in this case to try to force the DOJ to reveal the rest of its case against him, but that tactic has failed. If Bannon had any sense he’d cut a plea deal with the DOJ against Trump now, instead of going to trial next month and getting convicted and then having less leverage for cutting a deal. But the self destructing Bannon has been making poor decisions for quite some time now.
