Steve Bannon isn’t taking this very well

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Steve Bannon isn’t taking his guilty verdict well at all. The shaggy-haired sinner is doubling down, saying he is “not backing off.” Posting on the sleazy site “Gettr,” Bannon declared: “I am not backing off 1 inch.” Wow. Them there’s fighting words, Mr. Bannon. “The key is victory,” Bannon said.

Bannon also appeared on the show that specializes in airing America’s most disturbed individuals — Tucker Carlson. “If I do to jail, I go to jail,” Bannon mused profoundly.

Bannon then continued to talk about his dreams and fears. “This is an ideological war,” he said. “We cannot lose,” he added. Here’s the problem for Bannon — he’s already lost. Now maybe he doesn’t know that. He is not, after all, the sharpest tool in the shed.

But for Bannon, he needs to continue to look like he doesn’t give a damn. This is a guy filled with fake bluster who did not lift a finger to defend himself in court when it came right down to it.

His attorney not only did not call him to testify on his own behalf but did not even put on a case!

Bannon is doomed to be a footnote in history. History will show him to be a traitor but not a particularly bright one. What intelligent person, after all, behaves as Bannon has? Answer nobody. Nobody at all.

In the meantime, it is a relief that Bannon got what was coming to him. It was a glorious take-down of a mealy-mouthed criminal, and the Justice Department did an outstanding job as we knew they would do.

As for Bannon, his future looks bleak. He will soon head to prison, where a bright orange jumpsuit awaits him along with lousy food, 24-hour guards, and no podcasts. For a man who says “the key is victory,” it sure does look like victory just spit in his face.
