Steve Bannon is just the beginning
Picture a vast white and blue boat. It is cutting through the aquamarine waters, gently then with increased ferocity. The ship is propelled by focus and determination, seeking to anchor but not before its challenge is complete. This is the January 6 committee in a nutshell.
And the committee has voted. The committee will be referring criminal Steve Bannon to the Justice Department for contempt of court. It was always going to happen. And Bannon is obviously worried, as evidenced by his lawyer’s last-minute pleas to stop the proceedings. So, now we wait. But the committee is marching on.
Could we perhaps see assolini himself subpoenaed? It is a distinct possibility. Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney seems to be convinced of his involvement in the January 6 events.
According to Cheney, Bannon’s refusal to cooperate can be linked to Trump. She says it is possible he was “personally involved” in the deadly planning of the day’s events.
“Mr. Bannon’s and Mr. Trump’s privilege arguments do appear to reveal one thing, however: they suggest that President Trump was personally involved in the planning and execution of January 6,” Cheney said.
The vote was conducted on Tuesday evening. All members of the January 6 committee voted to hold Bannon in contempt. Now it goes to the full House on Thursday and then to the Department of Justice.
Bannon must feel like a fugitive at this point. And it is only going to get worse for him. This is what happens when one defies the law, and it couldn’t happen to a more miserable human being.
