Spiraling out of control

The Trump administration is the worst administration our country has ever seen. It’s not just about Trump using executive orders instead of going through Congress, it’s everything associated with this administration, especially the lies. One of the worst things the administration has recently done is to deport three children all under the age of 10, including one with stage four cancer who was sent with no medication or any type of medical review or involvement of his physician. According to the Trump administration, even though the children are citizens, their mothers are not and were, consequently, subject to deportation. Tom Homan, Trump’s “border czar” claimed that the three children were sent with their mothers at the mothers’ request. Continuing the lie, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the children “weren’t deported but went with their mothers.” Now, we are learning there is more to this story.
Lawyers representing the children and their families told NBC News that the Trump administration is lying about the circumstances surrounding the depositions, which isn’t a surprise. The lawyers said that the families were given no choice, and ICE purposely got in the way of planning for the children. For example, one mother was given two minutes to discuss the situation with her husband before she and the child were taken away. The mother of the child with cancer was not allowed to talk with either her attorneys or family members prior to her deportation. ICE was aware of the child’s medical condition, but they could have cared less. All three children were born in the U.S. and by virtue of their births are citizens. Their mothers are not yet legal. This explains why Trump wants to end birthright citizenship in the U.S. It will be easier for him to kick people out of the country, not that it’s stopping him now. He cruelly shipped those children and their mothers out of here without one word.
One of the attorneys working with the National Immigration Project called the deportations “illegal, unconstitutional, and immoral.” She is right on every count. Then, she tells us just how terrible Trump’s ICE really is: “The speed, brutality, and clandestine manner in which these children were deported is beyond unconscionable, and every official responsible for it should be held accountable.” No need to look too far; the buck stops with Trump. The consequences of Trump’s cruel, evil behavior is showing everywhere. The only problem is that those consequences are impacting all of us.
According to an opinions writer at USA Today, international tourism to the U.S. is practically at a standstill. Research firm Tourism Economics estimates that this could cost the U.S. $6.4 billion in travel spending in 2025 alone. Trump’s reaction? “It’s not a big deal.” Trump is single-handedly ruining our reputation on the world stage, and political scientist M. Steven Fish of the University of California, Berkeley, has said: “It’s hard to see the United States ever recovering its power and prestige. The power and prestige and influence that it has enjoyed over the last 80 years have been squandered by Trump.” The election of Donald Trump has turned out even worse than we imagined.
