Andrew McCabe begins spilling the beans after Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions fire him
Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe this evening, one day before McCabe could retire with a full pension, in one of the most viciously spiteful firings in the history of the United States government. Legal expert Richard Painter called the move “pointless.” Others called it obstruction of justice. Even as the fallout plays out, McCabe is wasting no time spilling the beans about the things that have been going on behind the scenes up to this point.
Trump decided months ago that McCabe was somehow a secret Hillary Clinton plant, or some delusional paranoid fantasy along those lines, and began obsessively trying to force McCabe to resign. McCabe announced he was retiring, but that wasn’t enough, and Trump decided to go after his pension as well. That’s prompted McCabe to quickly begin speaking out about Trump-Russia.
McCabe released a public statement saying “I am being singled out and treated this way because of the role I played, the actions I took, and the events I witnessed in the aftermath of the firing of James Comey.” He also went on to reveal that the report recently released by the Republicans on the House Intel Committee quoted him in a misleading manner in order to make its arguments. This effectively pins them for obstruction of justice.
This is merely what Andrew McCabe is willing to dish out in his initial statement after having been fired. If Donald Trump had allowed McCabe to retire as planned, he’d likely have remained quiet. Instead he’s starting to spill the beans. McCabe won’t reveal anything that would interfere with Robert Mueller’s investigation, but look for him to continue dishing on the antics of Trump and his co-conspirators. Trump’s most spiteful moves since taking office have tended to end up hurting him the most.
