Speaking of idiots…

The new brand of Republican is the worst thing known to mankind. All they do is walk around, talking about how little the Biden administration is doing for the victims of Hurricane Helene. Now, Milton is hitting Florida, and they are either stupid or could care less. Either way, they do not need to be in any positions of leadership while lying to the American people about what’s going on. Scientists have made clear that these huge storms are the result of global warming. Even as the waters of the Gulf of Mexico hit record water temperatures, Ron DeSantis was signing legislation removing any mention of climate change from state law. Who would choose to be so ignorant? Apparently, Republicans. Perhaps ignorance really is bliss, but not when your ignorance is causing damage, death, and destruction.

The Daily Beast (“DB”) reported that 100 Republican members of Congress voted against increasing disaster relief funding. JD Vance, who skipped the vote, calls climate change “weird science.” Republicans simply pretend certain things don’t exist if they don’t agree with them. For them, it’s apparently funny to call climate change a “hoax” instead of recognizing what scientists and the Earth are trying to tell us. Vance is an idiot.

Speaking of idiots, DB shared that of the 100 Republicans who voted against increased disaster relief, 10 are from Florida. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna is from Pinellas County and is a Trumper. She had no qualms about voting against increased disaster relief—until it hit her, that is. She then had the unmitigated gall to go onto Facebook and demand—yes, demand—more of the relief that she voted against. Republicans are just that stupid. They don’t want to help this country’s people, but when disaster knocks on their doors, they want money. Luna tweeted: “Cut the crap. We need FEMA DOLLARS FREE’D UP. ALL ASSETS.” When Newsweek read it, they wrote about her vote against the bill, which she called a “lie” and made a new post: “Democrats and the DC Swamp did not pass an appropriations bill to properly fund FEMA as they’re supposed to.” Well, perhaps if you and your stupid Republican colleagues had helped it to pass, it would be available to you and everyone else who need it. She deserves what she’s getting; the others don’t. It finally dawned on her that her constituents likely know that she and the others passed on the bill. As a result, she changed her tune real fast. Another idiot.

DeSantis is also an idiot. During his stint in Congress, he voted against federal aid after Hurricane Sandy, and as mentioned earlier, he has removed all talk of climate change via legislation, in a state surrounded by water. Smart move, DeSantis.

Look, this is a free country, and you’re free to vote for whomever you like, but if you choose to vote Republican, know that you are voting against your own interests. Republicans have no interest in helping the American people. They’re in it for power, not for you. Think about that long and hard before you engage with the touch screen. Your decision impacts all of us.
