Speaker Nancy Pelosi just called out Mike Pence
Earlier today, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and incoming Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer both publicly called on Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment and immediately remove Donald Trump from office. They also called Pence’s office, but were told that Pence wasn’t available to speak to them at the time.
Now, this evening, Pelosi is calling out Pence: “This morning, Senator Schumer and I placed a call to Vice President Pence to urge him to invoke the 25th Amendment which would allow the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet to remove the President. We have not yet heard back from the Vice President. The President’s dangerous acts necessitate his immediate removal from office. We look forward to hearing from the Vice President as soon as possible and to receiving a positive answer as to whether he and the Cabinet will honor their oath to the Constitution and to Americans.”
Notably, Pelosi threatened earlier today to move forward with impeachment if Pence didn’t act immediately. This comes even as NBC News is reporting this evening that Pelosi is set to meet with House Democrats at noon tomorrow to make a decision on impeachment. Pelosi appears to be calling out Pence tonight in order to give him one last chance to take charge, before she does.
