Sorry Donald Trump, that’s not how anything works
Donald Trump still thinks that the way to win in politics is to tell convenient lies to your gullible base, and hope it’s enough. The trouble is, this has always been a flawed strategy. Trump’s base alone isn’t anywhere near large enough to swing an election. Trump was put over the top last time by people outside Trump’s base who didn’t like him much but gave him a shot anyway.
Even with Trump’s poll numbers now sinking to the point that he’s screaming at people and threatening to sue his own campaign manager, he’s still hung up on the idea that absurd lies are going to somehow magically salvage things.
Fortunately, more people are seeing through Trump’s lies by the day. Congressman Ted Lieu helpfully ripped apart Trump’s latest lie:
Dear @realDonaldTrump: You lie.
We’ve tested less than 1.8% of our population. In terms of testing per capita, which is the relevant statistic, we are behind:
Spain, Italy, Germany, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Ireland, Israel, Austria, Singapore, Qatar, Denmark … https://t.co/jRUwZux0iX
