Sorry Donald Trump, it’s too late, nice try!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Now that the FBI has carried out a search and seizure warrant at Donald Trump’s home and retaken the boxes of classified documents he stole, his sidekick Lindsey Graham says that Trump is even more likely to announce a 2024 presidential campaign, and that it could happen very quickly. You know what? That’s fine. Let Trump try it.

At this point Trump is more than welcome to announce a fake 2024 campaign. Everyone among the mainstream American public will know it’s just a distraction and it’s not real, which means the mainstream media won’t be able to treat it as a real campaign either. Such an announcement won’t help him one bit. And it’ll probably just help the Democrats in the midterms, because Trump is toxically unpopular with general election voters.

The media might initially try to cover any Trump 2024 campaign announcement as if it were a real campaign. The mainstream media and pundit class loves nothing more than finding an absurdist contrarian hot take that’s capable of going viral, such as “This raid will only make Trump even stronger and more emboldened,” and then almost unanimously pushing that hot take in an attempt at milking it for ratings.

But it’s difficult to imagine the general public being willing to go along with such a silly hot take. When you’re at a point where the FBI is going into your home with a warrant and taking boxes of evidence that prove you guilty of serious crimes, and then later that week you suddenly yell “I’m running for President” more than two years before the next presidential election, the public isn’t going to buy it. The media will end up having to admit as well that it’s not a real thing. And Trump’s pathetic base doesn’t count.
