Something is wrong with Pete Hegseth

There can be no doubt that Pete Hegseth is grossly under-qualified for the position for which he is applying. At his confirmation hearing, he appeared surly, defiant and angry. Who knows, perhaps he was working off a hangover. One never knows with a guy like this one.

The Democrats did an outstanding job in their questioning. Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth was particularly impressive, at times appearing like an avenging knight in shining armor. I was very strongly impressed with her. She’s going places, places even higher than where she is now.

Republicans handled the questioning with their usual idiocy. And yet Pete Hegseth did worse than even I expected. I do not know if you watched the hearings, but if you did watch them, you saw the smirk.

Hegseth had this annoying smirk edged into his face that refused to leave during the hearing. It’s as if he was born with this little silent smirk. He is everything we don’t need in the military, this drinking, womanizing, pathetic Fox News host.

Yet, he still might be confirmed. I do not know whether the Republicans have it in them to defy Donald Trump. Don’t forget Republicans perform exclusively for Trump, glowing with approval when he smiles upon them. It is all they know and understand.

I suspect they would confirm a second grader to head to the military. If that’s what Donald Trump asked them to do, it is a silent scream of mendacity. To defy Donald Trump, is hard work for our frenemies across the aisle. Pleasing him — It is their calling.

So, we will see what happens with this confirmation. He handled himself terribly. However, I am profoundly proud and glowing with pride over how well my party handled the questioning of this smirking inadequate Trumper sitting in the chair in front of them.
