Something is wrong with JD Vance

A soft rain was falling the night we found out who Donald Trump’s running mate would be. Perhaps that was appropriate. Perhaps there will be many more nights of drizzle, of mist, of dark clouds on dark waterlogged nights for the Hillbilly Elegy writer.

“Cynical asshole.” These strong words were directed at Donald Trump. Who said them? It’s the kid himself! Vance — Vance is a guy with a plan. That plan is to become the Dorian Gray of politics..

He’s anaged that very well. But Vance has another plan: to get to the Presidency. I imagine the kid has longed for that job, thinking about it, perhaps ruminating on it. possibly tossing and turning at night as Dorian Gray slipped into the room and merged ever so gently with him.

“America’s Hitler.”

Vance worked hard—you’ve got to give him that. He worked room after room after room. He got himself elected to the Senate. He became close friends with Junior.

“Unfit for our nation’s highest office.”

So this is the man whom we are dealing with. Vance has made an error, though, a few errors actually, that he may look back on with shock when he loses along with his messiah in November.

“An Opioid for the Masses.”

His first error are all the things he said about Trump, some of which I’ve outlined here. And I haven’t even scratched the surface.

All the things that will now make up commercials—great commercials, big, vivid commercials, letting the American people know what Vance REALLY thinks of Trump.

“Trump’s promises are the needle in America’s collective vein.”

Ah, what a child Vance is in some ways. He made a second mistake.

He underestimated — us.

For we are the political animals, the keepers and protectors of Democracy. We see Vance clearly. We KNOW him perhaps better than he knows himself.

“Cultural heroine.”

Vance’s ego has swelled bigger than Pinocchio’s nose. He doesn’t get it, he simply doesn’t understand his formidable competition and how, after YEARS of protecting the country from Donald Trump, we are prepared to keep guiding our country away from impostors like him.

“I’m a never Trump guy.”

See, sometimes power corrupts. This is what it has done to Vance, splitting him, turning him into the Dorian Gray of politics. “He (Trump) cannot fix what ails them and one day they’ll realize it.”

Stealing one’s soul. Did he even think twice? Did he have one night where he gazed out of Ohio windows and wondered about the price his psyche might pay? The Trump/Vance ticket won’t win. “My God, what an idiot.” He could have been speaking about himself. Perhaps he was.
