Someone just flipped on George Santos

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

House Republicans still haven’t expelled George Santos, even though he’s out on bail while awaiting trial and is a lock to end up in prison, because they’re just that worried about their fragile House majority. But even as House Republicans continue to remind us that their party has no morals, Santos is being steadily marched closer to his prison cell.

George Santos’ former campaign treasurer Nancy Marks pleaded guilty in court today. She also implicated Santos on crimes including campaign finance fraud. This means Marks will end up having to testify against Santos at his trial, which means Santos’ odds of conviction just went from around 99% to roughly 100%.

We’ll see if this prompts Santos himself to finally cut a plea deal. That’ll be up to him. He’s going to prison either way; it’s just a matter of when and for how long. If Santos does cut a deal, it would have to include his resignation from the House, which would create yet another headache for House Republicans at a time when they’re already imploding from infighting.
