Donald Trump just got hit with some really bad news

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Even before Donald Trump dishonestly and ineptly created the coronavirus crisis, he was already well behind Joe Biden in the national polling averages, meaning his prospects for reelection were bleak. As Trump’s coronavirus approval numbers continue to plummet, it was bound to have an impact on the election numbers โ€“ and now it has.

State level polling averages already had Joe Biden ahead of Donald Trump in the key swing states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and even Arizona. But as of three weeks ago, Trump was leading Biden by a couple points in Florida โ€“ perhaps due to the damage that Bernie Sanders did to the Democratic Party by partially praising Fidel Castro. In any case, new polling from UNF now says that Biden is six points ahead of Trump in Florida.

If Donald Trump loses Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, that’s the ballgame. Now he’s officially behind in all of those states. We all wish the coronavirus crisis weren’t happening. But the reality is that it’s harming Trump’s already-weak prospects for reelection.

This also makes clear that Donald Trump’s daily coronavirus press conferences, which amount to two hours of free campaign advertising for him each day โ€“ aren’t helping his poll numbers. Joe Biden keeps holding press briefings and expert roundtables that almost never get aired on CNN or MSNBC, but the poll numbers make clear that Biden’s prospects aren’t being hurt by the fact that the media is ignoring him.
