Some of the folks in Donald Trump’s life are thrilled that he’s going down

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Reportedly CNN analyst Maggie Haberman’s phone has been blowing up — with excited texts from Trumpworld figures celebrating the news of Trump’s indictment. Well, that figures, right? I imagine many of the same republicans who are speaking out with anger are secretly thrilled — only they just can’t say so publicly.

“There is a long trail of people who feel burned in one way or another by Donald Trump,” Haberman said. “And the number of people I heard from yesterday who worked for his company, who was really happy. One person texted with the words “wonderful news.”

Ha! I Of course, it’s WONDERFUL NEWS. Does this day seem so very festive? I’d not be surprised if I opened my front door and saw birds dancing. That’s the type of day it is. So this news from Haberman doesn’t surprise me at ALL. If only republicans were brave enough to come out and ADMIT they can’t stand the man. That would banish Trump from their lives in a second.

But because the GOP is a bunch of spineless, cowardly nitwits, thus will be unlikely to actually happen. However, behind the scenes is another thing.

I’d venture to guess many of the same republicans you see reacting with fury are secretly VERY happy. That is the true art of republican hypocrisy. And think about it. Does one really believe someone like, say, Ted Cruz gives a damn about Trump? Ted doesn’t give a damn about ANYBODY except himself, so the answer to that question is no.

Of course, some republicans are genuinely upset (cut to Lindsey Graham, whom I’m sure even, as I wrote these words, is reaching for the kleenex.) But most people feel like we do — happy, vindicated, and thrilled beyond belief. And unlike republicans, WE can openly show our delight.
