So what happens now?

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Last night Donald Trump, sick with coronavirus and gasping for air and highly contagious, walked back into the White House for deranged reasons that made sense to no one but him – and considering the drugs he’s currently on, it may not make sense to him either. So now what are we supposed to do?

The next move is Donald Trump’s to make. If he’s as ill as we all have good reason to think he is, then he has two choices. Either he can remain bed most of the time and occasionally prop himself up for photo ops aimed at creating the appearance that he’s still doing the job. Or he can keep taking the same dexamethasone that propped him up enough to allow him to (barely) walk into the White House under his own power, and if he abuses it for too long, he’ll end up back in the hospital or dead.

So we’ll see what Trump does next. Either way it’s unlikely to be pretty. Statistically speaking, he still has a good chance of recovering from coronavirus (if he doesn’t abuse the steroids), but his health could get much worse before it gets better – and his recovery could be lengthy and far from full.

Meanwhile, we can do one of two things. We can either allow Donald Trump’s increasingly disturbing behavior to paralyze us into inaction. Or we can let him seal his own fate as we focus our energy on things like voter turnout, phone banking, and volunteering. This is still all about winning the election by a commanding margin, so let’s get to work right now!
