So this backfired on Greg Abbott

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Somewhere far away, Irony, Karma, and Fate are having a terrific time. I imagine they might even be having a bit of a party. You see, this is because Irony, Karma, and Fate won out. Someone in politics attempted to do an end-run around them, and so far, at least, it has backfired in spectacular fashion. That person is Texas non-Governor Greg Abbott.

As Palmer Report has previously laid out, Abbott has been busily busing Migrants to Washington DC. He is doing this as a look-at-me gesture. The subliminal messaging is: “I’m a tough guy! I’m tough on immigration.” At least, that is how Abbott HOPED he’d be perceived.

Instead, Abbott is being perceived as — migrant-friendly? It appears so. “Thank you, Gov. Abbott” These emotional words were spoken by one of the migrants bused to Washington DC. Meet Victor Rodriguez. He is Venezuelan. He was on one of the buses. And he is thrilled to be in the great city of DC. “My life starts now,” Rodriguez said poignantly.

Many of the migrants could not believe how quickly they made it to the city — and how safe the drive was.

“Humanitarian.” This is how Rodriguez emotionally described the Abbott – ordered trip.

“I was able to make it safe and sound and at no cost.”

“I thank Abbott wholeheartedly.”

Other immigrants also voiced their gratitude. Friend to immigrants. Not quite the label the non-Governor was seeking. But you see, that is what sometimes happens with those that attempt cruelty. Sometimes the joke’s on them. And in this case, the curve-ball thrown at Abbott was a nice big, long-lasting one. You can read more about the journey of Victor Rodriguez here.
