So much for the Republican House

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In this sometimes extreme world that we live in, we are able to witness — and to feel for ourselves every kind of emotion known to mankind. These emotions light us up and also bring us darkness. We sometimes witness atrocities that make us furious. We witness acts of love and extreme courage, which fill our senses with joy.

We hear stories of heroes; we see glowing horizons in the distance which fill us with pride. We taste the spoils of victories, which, lately, seem to be coming more and more frequently. And we feel it all.

Every activist feels a combination of things in politics. Do you want to know what I feel now? Shame. Shame, because, somehow, some way, honesty took a long walk away from the GOP and got lost. I don’t think the GOP is searching too hard to find.

The story that broke on Thursday — that the person central to Republicans’ slander of President Biden and Hunter Biden had been arrested on allegations of lying to the FBI — is huge. This story should be receiving a lot more attention than it is. Oh, most networks gave it a cursory mention and then right back to smearing DA Fani Wilis, which, apparently, they deemed a far bigger concern.

“Eviscerates the impeachment effort.” That’s what Elliot Williams said on CNN. That’s what everybody is saying. This goes back to my question: Where and when did morality fail the GOP?

You know, few Republicans have said a WORD about this story. That is likely because it interferes with their narrative. Republicans rarely apologize. It’s not in them to do so Meanwhile, think about it. Think about the vicious smears President Biden and his son were forced to put up with.

Lies, all lies. The GOP was playing the lying game. They still are. Gym Jordan and James Comer and many others in the GOP are silent on the one thing that matters in politics — honesty. They just can’t do it. They can’t admit it. Smirnov, the stirrer of the lies, was arrested by the FBI as he was arriving home in Las Vegas.

So what say you, Republicans? I led this article with the remark that we experience every kind of emotion known to mankind. Do you want to know what I’m FEELING NOW? Shame. Just shame.

Shame that we have such weak people in power. Shame that we have, on the other side, a party of cowards, of people who should be embarrassed to call themselves representatives of the people.

Shame is an emotion that can be intense, and it has the power to blot out arrogance and cause some to feel humility and make changes to their persons and character. Not this bunch, though. Republicans are impervious to the feeling of shame, and that is just a human tragedy.
