So much for the “honeymoon”
Back when Kamala Harris first entered the race, she quickly began to climb in the polls and it was clear that she had strong momentum out of the gate. At the time, the Donald Trump campaign insisted that this was going to be a mere “honeymoon” period for Harris, and that she would come back down to earth before long.
At the time I couldn’t help but chuckle at this. I wrote that “We’re going to fall behind now but we’ll magically catch up later” isn’t a strategy. Who knows, maybe Trump’s people actually believed it. But I don’t think any serious people did.
In any case here we are a month later, and Kamala Harris is in a better polling and momentum position now than she was when she first entered the race. Last I checked, honeymoons don’t last a month. This isn’t some honeymoon period. It’s a movement.
Of course the media will surely try to turn against Kamala Harris at some point, because they’ll want this to be a horse race. That’s why we have to keep working to run up the score. But this is very much the Kamala Harris show. Trump’s people are delusional if they think otherwise.
