So much for Donald Trump stealing an electoral vote in Nebraska

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Even with as much noise as Donald Trump and his allies were making about changing Nebraska law so that Trump could steal an electoral vote that was supposed to go to Kamala Harris, there was never any reason to expect that such a thing would happen. By all accounts there were simply never the votes for it. It didn’t matter how many scary headlines there were about it, or how many tweets that went viral by “sounding the alarm” about it, or how many delusional trips Lindsey Graham might have taken to the state. It was just never a real thing, because there were never the votes.

Sure enough, today a Nebraska state legislator – who was always going to vote against the measure – announced that he’s indeed voting against the measure. So now the media is admitting that the whole plan is dead. Of course they’re still spinning it in dramatic fashion, as if this was definitely going to happen but then something shocking happened at the last minute.

It’s worth pointing out that the media always uses this approach whenever it’s trying to convince us that Trump and the GOP have found their magic wand for automatically winning the election. It always starts with the media hyping something scary that isn’t going to happen as if it were going to happen, and when it doesn’t happen, the media pretends it was an outcome that no one could have seen coming. Yawn.

So now we’re back to where we were before, which is where we always are in every competitive election we’ve ever encountered: the side that works harder is going to win. Remember, working hard means things like phone banking, door knocking, sending voter registration postcards, and driving your friends to the polls. Staring at your screen in fear is not “working hard.” It’s not “being vigilant.” It just means you’re a ratings pawn. Get involved instead.
