So much for Bill Barr

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

So the Durham probe has not only done nothing to help Trump, it’s now backfired on him in a way that’s put the Alfa Bank Russian server back into the headlines. Trump and his people really are the dumbest villains alive, aren’t they?

And yet we still hear rumblings in the media about how Bill Barr was a secret evil genius who could magically get whatever he wanted just by waving a magic wand. At this point it all reads like science fiction. Barr was the one who initiated the Durham probe, a dumb idea that did nothing to help Trump.

After initially getting lucky with Robert Mueller, who at that point had become completely witless anyway, Bill Barr proceeded to strike out with just about everything else he tried to do for Trump.

But “Bill Barr was a middling and often bumbling henchman who couldn’t make most of his evil ideas work and ultimately didn’t make that much of an impact” isn’t exactly a ratings-friendly narrative. So the media is mostly still trying to sell us on the notion that Barr was evil villain supreme. Just ask John Durham what he thinks about that.
