So much for all hell breaking loose

Donald Trump’s entire schtick consists of making the gravest threat he can think of, without regard for whether it’s realistic or even possible, and then hoping that everyone cowers in fear and starts “sounding the alarm” about how dangerously powerful he is. But when we do that, we just play into Trump’s hands. In reality Trump is often firing blanks, and the best way to defeat him is to call out the fact that he can’t do the thing he’s threatening to do.

Take, for instance, Trump’s declaration – multiple times – that “ALL HELL IS GOING TO BREAK LOOSE ON MONDAY” or some similar variation. This was obviously intended to scare us into believing that Trump could incite his goons into violently stopping the trial, or something along those lines.

But in reality, nothing of the sort happened. Nor did anything like that have any chance of happening. Trump no longer controls federal law enforcement, and he’s never controlled local law enforcement. So anything that his goons tried on Monday would have been quickly put down.

In the end all we got was a few pro-Trump idiots waving flags outside the courthouse, even as a dementia riddled Trump reportedly fell asleep inside during the proceedings.

As always tends to be the case these days, a fully feeble Donald Trump can’t make anything go his way, or make anything happen at all. His base, tired and worn out, is figuratively asleep. And Trump himself is asleep literally.
