The Supreme Court now says it’ll release decisions this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, thus increasing the odds that we’ll see the Trump immunity ruling by the end of the week. Legal experts say that the ruling may still allow time for Donald Trump’s federal criminal trial in Washington DC to take place before the election. But that’s only the half of it.

Trump is now insisting that President Biden take a drug test before tomorrow night’s debate, which suggests that Trump’s handlers may have indeed convinced him not to show up. In the cognitive condition that Trump is in, if he does participate in the debate, it could be the end of him politically. But if he pulls out and says it’s because Biden refused to take a drug test, that might go over even more poorly for Trump than if he shows up and bombs.

Meanwhile Biden has now pulled slightly ahead of Trump in the majority of polls, for whatever that’s worth. Trump is responding to the news by insisting that he’s actually ahead of Biden by double digits nationwide, which is so laugh out loud ludicrous, it suggests Trump’s babysitters are just feeding him whatever they can think of to try to keep him sated.

We’re also now just two and a half weeks from Trump’s sentencing hearing in his New York criminal trial. This means that before much longer Alvin Bragg will be filing his sentencing recommendation. We’ll see if it involves prison. The decision will ultimately be solely up to Judge Juan Merchan. But if Bragg asks for prison, then the odds of Merchan giving Trump prison will obviously go up.

The bottom line is that there’s a lot in play right now. We might not see any of it today, but there’s plenty coming down the pike – some of it rather soon. So stay at the ready, and while we’re waiting for these next shoes to drop, let’s go win some competitive House races.
