Donald Trump begins making berserk threats after Saturday Night Live lampoons him
Saturday Night Live made fun of Donald Trump’s mounting troubles yet again last night. If you haven’t yet seen it, suffice it to say that it made us laugh, and we won’t spoil the details for you. But it turns out, predictably, that there’s at least one person who definitely did not find it funny. Not only is Trump expressing his displeasure with SNL, he’s going completely off the deep end about it.
Here’s what Donald Trump tweeted roughly ten hours after SNL aired: “A REAL scandal is the one sided coverage, hour by hour, of networks like NBC & Democrat spin machines like Saturday Night Live. It is all nothing less than unfair news coverage and Dem commercials. Should be tested in courts, can’t be legal? Only defame & belittle! Collusion?” Okay, let’s parse this.
First, why did it take Trump so long to respond? It sounds like he didn’t even watch it last night, and he’s instead reacting to the fact that everyone is making fun of him for it today. He’s also essentially threatening to use the power of the presidency to sue Saturday Night Live over how it makes fun of him, for reasons that are legal gibberish.
Here’s what Donald Trump doesn’t get: he is, for the moment at least, the “President” of the United States. He’s in power, not the Democrats. His party has controlled Congress for the past two years, not the Democrats. Yet Trump still can’t figure out why SNL would be more focused on him than on the Democrats. This guy still doesn’t want to accept what all comes with being in power – which is yet another reason why he shouldn’t remain in power. Just wait til SNL starts lampooning his inevitable impeachment.
