Smartmatic scores new win over Fox News

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Fox News has taken a series of ugly blows of late, including a $787 million payout to Dominion, the firing of Tucker Carlson, the roughly $500 million stock market tumble it took as a result of that firing (from which it still hasn’t recovered), and the revelation that former producer Abby Grossberg has dozens of recordings of Fox executives. If Fox was looking for some good news today, it got the opposite.

Fox News now has been forced to agree to turn over additional evidence to Smartmatic, including documents relating to Rupert Murdoch and Lachlan Murdoch, per ABC News. Why does this matter? More incriminating evidence generally means greater odds of the plaintiff winning at trial, and winning big.

Smartmatic is still vowing to take this all the way to trial no matter what, instead of settling. We’ll see if that position holds true. The kicker is that some of the evidence Fox News is now being forced to turn over to Smartmatic is from the now-aborted Dominion trial. So if this goes to trial, we’ll end up seeing all the dirty laundry that Fox News may have been trying to keep buried by settling with Dominion.
