Nancy Pelosi has something up her sleeve

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I don’t know exactly what Nancy Pelosi’s strategy is against Donald Trump, and neither do you. That’s how a good strategist plays things, because it ensures that Trump and his allies don’t know what she’s planning either. To those not paying any attention, it appears she’s doing nothing. To those paying moderate attention, it appears she’s not doing enough. But if you pay really close attention to what’s transpiring, it’s clear that she has something major up her sleeve.

Don’t believe me? I’ll give you four words: Republican Congressman Justin Amash. No, I don’t think she’s pulling his strings. He’s a smart guy. He’s risking his career by going after Donald Trump for his own reasons, not because he owes Pelosi a favor or something. But he’s nonetheless opened up a Mack truck-sized hole that Pelosi can drive through. She can do anything to Trump now and call it “bipartisan” – even if it’s just with the backing of one House Republican.

In fact, Amash made that opening even larger today when he went on the offensive against Trump’s corrupt Attorney General William Barr. Amash just made it very easy for Pelosi to start impeachment and/or contempt proceedings against Barr, even if she’s not ready to start them against Trump. It doesn’t matter that the Senate would ultimately refuse to remove Barr. The point is that the impeachment process would force Barr to play defense to try to save himself, making it far more difficult for him to play offense for Trump.

Yet Nancy Pelosi hasn’t started any punitive proceedings against Barr either, despite there being no downside. There are only two possibilities here. One is that Pelosi is an indecisive idiot – and we know that’s not true. The other is that Pelosi is waiting to pull the proverbial trigger because she has something far bigger up her sleeve when it comes to the Trump regime, and it’s not quite ready to roll out yet.

So what is it? We’ve seen some hints. Last week’s two court rulings against Trump when it comes to his financial records are a big deal. It’s an even bigger deal that two other banks, Wells Fargo and TD Bank, recently turned over Trump’s financial records to House Democrats without Trump’s knowledge. Is Pelosi buying time until House investigators can get to the bottom of these records? Then there’s the judge’s deadline this Friday for Barr’s DOJ to publicly release the redacted portions of the Mueller report that relate to Michael Flynn. Mueller helped nudge the judge in this direction. Has he signaled to Pelosi that she should wait for whatever is going to come out on Friday?

There are other possibilities here. Is Nancy Pelosi trying to convince Trump’s family and handlers to talk him into announcing he won’t run in 2020? Is there something else in play that we don’t know about? We don’t know, and again, that’s the only way to make sure Trump and his allies don’t know what she’s planning. But unless you think she’s an idiot – and she’s clearly not one – she’s holding off on any action because she has something far bigger up her sleeve that she thinks will tilt the entire playing field in her direction. Good luck figuring out what it is in the meantime.
