Don’t get distracted by the Trump-Cohen sideshow

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Those who closely follow politics on a daily basis may find this difficult to believe, but the cold hard reality is that most Americans don’t pay all that close of attention. Right now the average American knows that there was something between Donald Trump and Russia, and that a few of Trump’s top people have been arrested, and that’s about it. They’re sitting back waiting for the definitive headlines that declare Trump guilty or innocent on the whole election treason thing. In the mean time they’re being treated to sort of an odd sideshow.

Try to imagine you don’t really know anything definitive about Trump’s scandals and crimes one way or the other, and you’re only hearing whatever is being shouted the loudest at any given time. This past month, that would mean you’ve been hearing a lot about how Trump had an affair with a porn star, and then his lawyer paid her off to keep it quiet. You might find the storyline to be salacious fun, but in terms of political ramifications you’re not seeing anything you think is relevant.

That’s because you’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg. The question isn’t whether Donald Trump is unfit for office because he had an affair and tried to cover it up. Even though Trump and his attorney Michael Cohen did commit multiple felony violations of federal election law in the process, even that’s not the relevant point here. This is all about forcing Cohen to cut a plea deal, so prosecutors can get their hands on evidence of Trump’s big crimes.

Donald Trump’s real estate properties are largely just fronts for allowing criminals from around the world to launder money. Trump has such deep criminal financial ties to Russia, the Kremlin owns him. Russia rigged the election for him because it knew it could control him once he was in power. Trump literally committed treason against the United States, the kind where you end up spending the rest of your life in a dark hole.

This investigation into Donald Trump and Michael Cohen and the payoff to the porn star isn’t even the real investigation. It’s a sideshow being run by a different set of prosecutors than the ones who are systematically taking Trump and his gang down for treason. This isn’t about Trump having an affair, or even his felonious attempts at covering it up. This is about Trump’s status as a traitor against the United States. The porn star thing merely puts the Feds one step closer to shoving Trump down that deep dark hole for the rest of his life.
