Insider: Donald Trump’s failing 2020 reelection campaign is a “shitshow”

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Spoiler alert: Donald Trump isn’t really running a 2020 reelection campaign. Even he’s not delusional enough to think he’ll be in position to run for reelection. What he’s really been running for the past two years is a scam to convince his supporters to donate money for his “reelection” so he can spend the money on the legal fees for him and his family in the Trump-Russia scandal. Now it turns out Trump’s 2020 campaign is even more of a joke than we thought.

Someone had to be in charge of Donald Trump’s faux-reelection campaign, so he chose Brad Parscale, the guy who was supposedly the voter data analysis genius who figured out how to help Trump win key swing states in 2016. Of course no rational person still believes that Trump actually won those states legitimately, as it’s become clear that the credit goes to Russian government hackers.

Whatever Parscale was really doing during the sham of a 2016 campaign – probably just stroking his giant beard – it apparently didn’t prepare him to be in charge of the sham of a 2020 campaign. The whole thing has gone so far off the rails, Vanity Fair is reporting that according to a Trump insider, there’s a “revolt against Parscale” because the whole campaign is a “shitshow.” None of this should be considered surprising, as this isn’t a real campaign to begin with.

What stands out most here is that some of the people running the faux-2020 Trump campaign do seem to think it’s for real, and they’re becoming frustrated as they gradually figure out that the whole thing is a sham. In any case, even as Donald Trump continues to use his fake reelection campaign as a vehicle for covering his personal expenses, the usual dysfunctional infighting among his henchmen is as fully on display as ever.
