Trump’s pal Sheriff David Clarke suddenly has a huge Trump-Russia problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Nearly a year and a half ago, Palmer Report began asking what Donald Trump’s close political ally, former Sheriff David A. Clarke, was doing in Moscow on the same day that Trump’s future National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was having dinner with Vladimir Putin down the street. Eventually we learned that Clarke’s trip to Moscow had been funded by a pro-gun group named “The Right to Bear Arms,” which seemed oddly out of context: what did guns have to do with Trump-Russia? Now it’s all starting to make sense, and Clarke suddenly has a huge problem.

As it turns out, “The Right to Bear Arms” is a group belonging to Maria Butina, who was arrested this week by the Feds. In other words, Sheriff David Clarke was brought to Moscow during the 2016 election cycle by an alleged Russian government agent who is now sitting in a jail cell. It’s not yet clear to us whether or not Clark’s decision to accept the expenses-paid trip means he illegally acted as an unregistered foreign agent. But this is just the beginning of it.

It’s now clear that the Feds are investigating every move Butina made in relation to United States political figures. In fact the Feds revealed this week that they raided Butina’s home back in April, meaning they already have at least some of her electronic communications, financial records, and so on. Did Clarke accept a suspicious expenses-paid trip to Moscow simply because he liked the idea of running around in the freezing December weather, or was there more to this?

When you throw in the fact that Sheriff David A. Clarke went on to serve as a prominent Donald Trump campaign surrogate, it raises even more suspicion about his Maria Butina-funded trip to Moscow while Trump was running for President. At best, the optics of this for Clarke are absolutely terrible, and at worst… well, we’ll see what evidence the Feds come up with.
