Shepard Smith gets the best of Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump decided that his best way to unify everyone today was to viciously attack as many Americans as possible. Trump viciously went after Beto O’Rourke, Joe Biden, Joaquin Castro, CNN, the New York Times, and – rather bizarrely – Fox News host Shepard Smith. This prompted Smith’s name to begin trending on Twitter. By the time it was done, Smith managed to turn the tables on Trump.

Donald Trump tweeted this remark, setting off the firestorm: “Watching Fake News CNN is better than watching Shepard Smith, the lowest rated show on Fox News.” Suffice it to say that Shep Smith wasn’t fazed by Trump’s attempt at intimidation. Shortly after the tweet, Smith said this on-air: “We’re being watched … by a number of people. Some of them are not too happy – which is too bad.”

This was all but certainly a direct reference to Donald Trump’s sarcastic remark several days ago that it was “too bad” that Congressman Elijah Cummings’ Baltimore home had been burglarized. That’s right, Shep Smith managed to throw Trump’s own words back at him on the fly.

Shepard Smith is considered one of the more respectable people on Fox News, and lately he’s been standing up to Donald Trump in increasingly bold fashion. Smith surely earned additional respect today across the board – even as several of his colleagues on Fox News continue to unfortunately keep propping Trump up in dishonest fashion.
