Donald Trump has now taken the position that he’s pulling out of his scheduled September 10th debate with Kamala Harris. That’s cute. But the reality is that if Trump falls firmly behind in the national polling averages (three points or more), he’s going to have to roll the dice and debate her.

Either way, September 10th is either going to be the day that we get to see Kamala pummel Trump in a debate, or the day that we get to see Kamala pummel Trump for having failed to show up for the debate. It’s going to be fun. And it’s only half the story.

Eight days later, Trump’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for his New York criminal trial. There’s a good chance he’ll come out of that hearing with a prison sentence, or house arrest. Even if he manages to appeal that sentence for the rest of the election cycle, Trump could very well spend the final six weeks of the election as a convicted felon who’s been sentenced to prison. Like I said, September is going to be fun.
