Senile Donald Trump mistakenly celebrates imaginary legal victory
When you file an appeal on something and the appeals court issues a temporary stay while hearing your appeal, it doesn’t mean you’ve won the ruling. In fact more often than not, you end up losing. In the case of Donald Trump, he’s lost pretty much every appeal he’s filed in his various trials. But because he’s a senile idiot who has no idea what’s going on, he appears to believe that today’s temporary stay on one of his gag orders means he’s won.
Trump is now claiming on Truth Social that “Judge Arthur Engoron has just been overturned (stayed!) by the New York State Appellate Division (Appeals Court).” To be clear, this didn’t happen. A temporary stay is not an overturning of anything.
Yet here’s Donald Trump, mistakenly celebrating an imaginary legal victory. What’s going to happen in a day or three, once the appeals court hears the appeal and sides with Judge Engoron and reinstates the gag order? By the time, will an increasingly senile Trump even remember that today happened?
