Turns out House Democrats have been secretly doing a whole lot more to take down Donald Trump than we knew

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

With so many million of Americans โ€“ and for that matter so many House Democrats โ€“ now calling for Donald Trump’s impeachment, it’s a given that it’ll happen sooner or later. Even as that “sooner vs later” debate has been playing out in public, it turns out the House Democrats have been doing a whole lot more behind the scenes to take Trump down than we knew.

This week we saw two different federal judges rule that Deutsche Bank, Capital One, and Mazars are free to turn over Donald Trump’s financial records to House Democrats. But even as this was playing out, NBC News reported this evening that Wells Fargo and TD Bank have already turned over Trump’s financial records to House Democrats. Turns out the subpoena process for those two banks played out in secret, and since Trump didn’t know it was happening, he didn’t make any moves to try to prevent it. But this is just part of the story.

This week Donald Trump illegally instructed former White House Counsel Don McGahn not to testify before Congress, and McGahn illegally decided to listen to Trump. Even as the contempt of Congress process begins to play out against McGahn, former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson secretly testified about the Trump-Russia scandal this week to the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Trump couldn’t even try to stop Tillerson from testifying, because he didn’t know it was happening.

With momentum for Donald Trump’s impeachment swiftly growing, it’s difficult to imagine that Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic House leadership can wait much more than a few weeks before making some kind of move to start the impeachment process. In the meantime, the key factor here may be the evidence that House Democrats have been gathering right under Trump’s nose โ€“ which they’ll be able to use against him in any impeachment proceedings.
